Preconceived Notions - Pants Below the Butt

8/1/2015

During the November 1, 2011 Transformation Conversation, Joe Simmons and guests looked at our reactions about people wearing their pants below the butt, and considered whether our preconceived notions rob us of opportunities to see objectively, which could inhibit our ability to find more opportunities for fulfillment and happiness. This blog is a summary and lessons learned from that conversation. ~Joe Simmons
Pick up your pants!
Preconceived Notions
Actually, there is an explanation for this. The issue of wearing the pants below the butt is dynamic. There is the choice to do it, and there are the reactions to seeing it done. Since we cannot control what others do, we can look at our reaction to seeing it done.

First, if we look closely, we will notice that the people in these pics are covered from the waste down. Two of the gents in the photo are fully clothed.

The problem is our relationship to the labels we put on clothing, and our relationship to the contexts of those labels. In this case, we have a label called "underwear" and the meanings and connotations that we attach to the term underwear. Additionally, we have opinions about
appropriate locations for clothing features.

I saw this very clearly while at work a couple of weeks ago. A client was wearing his pants down below his butt, and he walked like a duck. I thought to myself, “This guy is a complete idiot.” Then, I looked more closely. “Hmm…,” I thought, “That’s not underwear. Those are sports pants… like basketball shorts… the mesh kind.” To confirm, I asked the client about it. The client confirmed, “Yeah, they’re basketball shorts.” I thanked him and he waddled away like a duck.

We have opinions about the composition and/or style of clothing that is appropriate to cover the body. We are accustomed to a look that includes attaching the top of the pants at or above the waste. We are talking about the location of a particular feature of a particular article of clothing, which is one piece of the composition/design of attire that clothes or covers the body.

Is it underwear or is it a bathing suit, or is it shorts, etc.? What difference does it make? My waddling client friend was fully clothed. Notwithstanding the labels and the connotations/expectations/meanings that I attach to them, I saw very clearly that I was the idiot.

Of course, the consequences of the design choice are another and separate dynamic of the pants-below-the-butt style.

Namaste,

Racisim and Justice

"Racism is just a playground of mirrors where we reflect ourselves. Sometimes, such as in racism, we use our differences as an excuse and opportunity to act out and reveal our condition." ~Joe Simmons

It's not just a lack of justice thing. It's a self-hate thing. Racism is just a playground of mirrors where we reflect ourselves. Sometimes, such as in racism, we use our differences as an excuse and opportunity to act out and reveal our condition. When we love ourselves and each other, justice takes care of itself. Otherwise, the pursuit of justice is a mute point and futile undertaking, in my opinion.

The good news is that the context gives us a comparison to love and a reason to engage and feel whatever comes up. We remember that as the humans, we can't experience a thing unless we can compare it to something else. Mission accomplished there.

To progress, the first question is, do we have a desire to move past the "racism" and "injustice" to the next level, which is to recognize and access the love?

Second, what are the seeds of love and healing that will automatically precipitate an aspect of love that we call "justice"?

Next, who's accountable for planting the seeds? Finally, who's responsible for the end result?

Any other exploration is futile in regard to eliminating "racism" and accomplishing "justice", in my opinion.

The Ten Commandments - A Perspective

3/11/2014

"We recognize The Ten Commandments. They are not the Ten Commands. They are neither the Ten Demands nor The Ten Demandments...."

Invitation: In the explorations that we pursue together, I invite us to try on the precepts like a coat and see how it looks and feels. We might have to move around a bit to get the feel of it. Likewise, there is an opportunity to look at it in the mirror and notice how it becomes us. In the exploration, we consider the following as if it were true, whether or not it is.

The Ten CommandmentsClick for: The Ten (10) Commandments – Were They Really 10 Or 13?
Thank you for joining me to consider a perspective on The Ten Commandments. Many believe that there are more than ten commandments. This article is not an exploration about the quantity of the commandments. Rather, this is an exploration into the substance, character and purpose of the list, regardless of the number of commandments it contains and regardless of the particular content of each commandment. This article is about the purpose and benefits of having the list. Thank you for joining me to consider the following.

By definition, there is no loving God figure or genuine divinely guided person or other manifestation that will condemn, punish, ridicule or judge anything. Likewise, one will not demand anything. Love does not demand, control, manipulate, threaten nor cajole. Divine love occurs unconditionally. That means without judgement and without exception.

Imagine that all genuinely divinable communications are tools to guide us and prompt us to remember who and what we are - to awaken our divine consciousness and experience our greatness that comes with it.

Divine Love occurs unconditionally only. In that, it dwells one way only. It provides a space that allows free being, lovingly and forgivingly. It provides a venue for acceptance, peace, joy, wellness and celebration to occur. The space includes abundance and an acknowledgment and experience that all is perfectly well. That is all it does.

That said, we continue with a semantic and ontological exploration of The Ten Commandments.

We recognize The Ten Commandments. They are not the Ten Commands. They are neither the Ten Demands nor The Ten Demandments.

To command is to cause a reaction or by-product. In this respect, we do not command anything to act as if by demand. To command does not equal to demand. Rather when we command or when we are commanding, we are causing enrollment such that the people and things around us align, make choices or become a certain way because of their experience of our being. We do not command like a demand. Rather, our way of being precipitates or catalyzes a becoming.

Therefore commanding is actually causing a form of natural selection or enrollment that is motivated by how we are being when we engage.

Our mode of operating in the world commands or causes an alignment of consequences. We cause particular enrollments and conditions to prevail. That is the commanding, the causing of the thing. We cause things by whom and what we are in the matter of anything. This is the Law of Attraction.

Therefore, the commandments are the things or the conditions that we manifest by who we are or by how we are being. We evolve commandments into being. They include certain prevailing natural inclinations, which I hypothesize, includes the checklist of precipitated inclinations, which we call The Ten Commandments.

In other words, The Ten Commandments are a list of desired symptoms or outcomes intended to remind us to be a way that precipitates them. Therefore, we present the commandments to ourselves as a reference or meter to determine our condition, our status as loving beings.

The Ten Commandments serve as a gauge to see how we are doing - to notice what we are producing. They are not a list of things to do like rules. They are not demands. They are a list of ideal results, which we can obtain by operating and engaging with divine love.

Likewise, The Ten Commandments are a list of symptoms that are present when we are true, when we have balance, when we access and feel the love that we are.

Perhaps the Ten Commandments are to what we aspire in the game of life for the joy of it. Perhaps this is true. Thanks for the opportunity to look. Please join me in the celebration of what is available. Life is good, rich, and spicy. ♥

With God's Blessing

Janice Pickett, author, intuitive counselor, healer, actor, film and TV producer and friend asked the following question...

"I believe God gives us energy which is our direct connection to him. Man has power through energy and can achieve anything when he knows how to apply it to his life. So when we pray we ignite that energy and in fact create our own solutions with Gods blessing. Do you agree?"   ~ Janice
Picture

Thank you for the opportunity to explore here. Putting our  thoughts to words subjects us to semantics. Please forgive me for the matters of semantics that might follow.

To answer the question, I agree. However, I don't feel that God gives a blessing, per se. I believe that we're inclined to give God human attributes and conjure contexts in order to relate or to try to make sense of things. We’re human-centric, so we can’t help but to relate everything to the human experience. For example, when I am larger from gaining forty pounds, the people and chairs around me look smaller to me. When I lose forty pounds, the people and chairs around me look larger to me. Hence, we perceive and understand everything through the scales of human being.

Please bare with me...

In my puny human-centric opinion, God is energy vibration flowing to balance, unattached and impartial to the stories and sentiments as we experience them. God is a category of energy vibration that we experience as love in the category of experience that we call life in a physical domain. I feel that we, the human beings, are an aspect of God through which we can feel the flow to balance that we are, a.k.a. the love that we are. One way I describe it is that we are conduits through which Love/God flows. That's the best I can do in most conversations because I see that everything is energy vibration and every spot of the energy vibration is conscious and perceptive. The perceptions, e.g. all things that we experience, are "thought"; which is a label we attach to another category of energy vibrations.

In a nutshell, there are two things going on.

  1. Everything is energy vibration occurring, and
  2. We perceive the energy vibrations dynamically.

We make up the realities by adding and validating contexts... a bunch of perceptions upon perceptions that perceive and experience collectively. Yes, the perceptions are perceiving. Ironically, We can't even really say collectively, because we're One and to say "collectively" implies that our individuation is also true. Our individuation is not true. It's all an illusion. To be clear, our individuation is real to the extent that we actually do have the experience. The experience is present. In other words, it is true that the experiences occur, albeit the experiences are illusions.

In my puny opinion, the idea of receiving God's blessings is a primitive human-centric perspective, an ego trip. The is-ness that is God occurs beyond anything that we can imagine or fathom, certainly a tad more dynamic than existing in a capacity to give blessings in a fashion similarly to the way we little humans approve or disapprove anything.

Still, I’m comfortable to use the term blessings to express gratitude. I feel that you are a blessing. You bring joy. You enrich us. You are a blessing to us. While I recognize and embrace the gift that you are, you and I bless, fortify, contribute to, enrich, make whole and invigorate me. We do the blessing together as a team. Likewise, God, e.g. the magnificent is-ness of it all is a blessing to us. I believe that God blesses us with the gift of God’s magnificence, parts of which you and I are. I feel that we, including God, bless each other and ourselves by seeing/recognizing the gifts that we are.

I don’t feel that God is a third party that determines worthiness, judges and provides approvals called blessings. I believe that we receive or experience blessings the same way we experience beauty, gratitude and love. We choose them.

Thank you for your partnership in the exploration!

Lovingly Namaste,

Joe

A Human-Centric Perspective of Ascension

10/4/2011

Hello Folks,

Thanks for reading this blog post. Firstly, I have to acknowledge that the title of the this blog is almost an oxymoron because "human-centrically" is the only way that we can perceive anything.

The image below is a screen shot of a Facebook picture shared by 11:11 Awakening Code. According to the sharer, the graph represents galactic wave movement.  The sharer states, "This is what's in store for the Human Race after October 28th, 2011 and into 2012. It is the end of Wave Movements or the gradual settling of an advanced sustainable 'Garden of Eden'. Thank YOU Mayan Calendar!! It all makes sense Now!"

For the purpose of this blog post, let's give us (the humans) the benefit of the doubt and give ourselves something about which to celebrate. We deserve it. Life is a conversation, anyway. It's all made up.

Joe Simmons recommended reading.

I've included (right) The God Code by Gregg Braden as recommended reading because it describes the how and ramifications of Heaven that is coming.

"As implied in many traditional religious descriptions of our origins, 'God created the Heaven and Earth' as two distinct, yet related, realms of experience. The texts go on to describe humankind as a bridge between the two realms, a marriage between Heaven (spirit or soul) and Earth. "'He (humankind) unites both heavenly and earthly qualities within himself...I (God) will create man to be the union of the two...'  Through our lives, the qualities of the two realms are merging into a single existence. At the end of our lives, the Heaven and Earth that have merged as our bodies return to their respective abodes. Our bodies return to the dust of the earth, while our souls and Heaven are already one. This perspective of life and death offers a tangible sense of why the experience of death does not mean an end to our existence. The hidden number code assures us that it is so." ~ The God Code, page 96, Gregg Braden

This galactic observation, below, which appears to be support of a broad spectrum Ascension that is coming, is a wonderful example that critical mass of awareness is not limited to the conscious awareness of the human-being parts of us who dwell on the spec of us called Earth. In other words, we (the individuated parts of us called humans) are so tiny; therefore, how could we think that a critical mass of a tiny piece of our infinite existence could be all upon which we have to rely in order reach a critical mass of awareness that would bring Ascension, which (I hope) includes a personal awareness that we are organically One?

We All Love Each Other

4/11/2011

Paul Goldberg, a Law of Attraction Coach, submitted the following status on Facebook:

"Love Yourself!...if you don't, who will?"

This is a great question and a reminder that we all love each other. We simply don't recognize it. We mis-interpret love as being other things. Then, we add meanings and conditions to the mis-interpretations. Then, we react to the mis-understandings as if they are true. The layers of mis-perceptions breed justifications to resist giving and receiving the love that would otherwise pummel us into a giddy oblivion. Thanks for the opportunity to look and remember!

Metaphysically Speaking, Who Discovered America?

1/19/2011

Picture
A friend on Facebook asked, “Who really discovered America, metaphysically speaking?”

From an historical perspective, Christopher Columbus did not discover America.

Metaphysically speaking, all things always are and always have been. We conjured the context of having discovered a thing and believing it's true that we've discovered it in order to have a point of contrast. The contrasts provide a place for us to bite into the life or to engage in it. It's the only way because all things are perceivable only by virtue of their comparison to something else.

Metaphysically, we are literally one All-that-is, without points of separation. If this is true, when we discover anything, we are merely remembering a part of ourselves that we've forgotten or are newly entertaining. The parts of us include all things - even rocks and "their" particulates. Rocks are living conscious parts of us, albeit we have difficulty realizing it because we associate life and living with a heart, brain, lungs, blood-flow, etc. Our puny selves have opinions about what constitutes life or being.

Life and consciousness occur energetically. It's about energy vibration. The forms are merely constellations of vibrations upon vibrations reflecting upon layers and layers of perceptions amongst all the parts of us. When I say "all the parts of us", they include the quarks and whatever other minute particulates we've conjured to try to figure out of what we're made. Even the particles are made-up - conjured. Additionally, each of all the conjured parts are perceiving and reflecting those perceptions about each other.

Here's the thing... All the stuff is made-up. We are living in a product of our creativity and imagination. Even the experiences of a physical domain, life and death, etc. are the result of perceptions layered upon perceptions ad infinitum that illuminate a physical experience. "Physical" is merely a label we apply to categories of experiences, perceptions, thoughts, etc., which we call true when they are not. The stuff is real only to the extent that we actually experience it. We really do experience this stuff; however, the manifestations are illusions. They are real, but they are not true.

So, who discovered America? Nobody. There is no America or USA… There is only one us – US, WE, ONE. We made up a context called “Discovered America” for fun.

By the way, this Oneness thing that we are is also called Love or God. We are love. Why the contrasts? Because, we cannot experience ourselves (Love) without something to which to compare ourselves. Remember? We need the stuff that is not love or the resistance to love, in order to recognize love. We’re here in contexts of physical-ness to access experiences of ourselves that are only available in this domain. The physical domains provide all the contrast we need and desire to re-discover who and what we are. We are one and love.

Thanks for taking the time to explore these perspectives. I like to try them on like a coat and ask myself, “If this is true, what else might be true?”

Namaste,

To Be or Not To Be Weak and Subservient

12/12/2010

The following Facebook status and comment inspired this post. Thank you for the opportunity to look and remember....
  • Ian Dacek: Husbands, listen to your wives; we can't understand them if we don't hear what they say. "Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered." 1 Peter 3:7
  • Tamara Volk-Pace: Biblically we are supposed to allow ourselves to be the weaker vessels. We are to be submissive to our husbands as long as they are living a Godly life. It is hard to do because in today's society we are raised to be strong & independent. It takes a lot of work & prayer to remain a "weaker" vessel. But remember it is submissive to a Godly man. Stay in prayer & God will help you.
We're equally delicious!Image: Courtesy of e-Potpourri.com
Thank you for your attention to consider this with me.

Perhaps to be subservient or submissive does not equal to be weak and dependent. Independence (being the source of and being accountable for the love that we are) and strength give us the freedom to allow whatever is in Love and be whole or holy in it, because we are faithful and confident to know that we are One and that all is well and perfect.

We are at a point of consciousness where we identify ourselves with the bodies. Maybe we're off. Perhaps the forms of us, e.g. men, women, dogs, cats, etc. are reflections, manifestations and aspects of our higher ethereal being - our wonderful flavors of light. The contexts of strong and weak are primitive labels of the fleshly physical experience. Maybe we're all opinionated chocolaty chocolate chocolates.

Let's try this on. In the context of the scriptures, to be weak means to be "allowing" and ready to serve Christly for Christian pursuits – an undertaking that takes more strength and independence than any other endeavor. The women of us are the backbone and the pinnacles of our experience and reminders that we are love and loved. Without which, we are lost and nothing. So, thank you!

Why Call Him God?

11/26/2010

I came across the following Epicurus (341–270 B.C.) quote in a Facebook comment:

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" ~ Epicurus

First, I want to be clear that I am exploring and sharing a perspective in the context of the entire quote, not just, "Why do we call God, God?" I am sharing a perspective based on why we call him God withstanding the conditions that Epicurus presents.

Perhaps we call him God because we feel like adding meaning to things and labeling things. Ironically, the labeling is insidious, e.g. we're predisposed to perceive a category of "separate" or "third party", hence we refer to and apply a “He” when there is none. Maybe we simply exist in a being or a becoming state of is-ness that is God. Hence, there is just an is state. I know that may sound strange. Of course, there is only one is. Imagine we might decide to distinguish, categorize, define, judge, label and count is’s. Actually, that’s what we do.

Finally, let's consider that the label “evil” and the descriptors, e.g. “malevolent” are fictitious. We apply the labels “good”, “bad”, etc. to our opinions of a thing and call it true, when it is not. In this case, therefore, we hold the fabrication labeled “He” accountable to the opinions and the labels that we attach to them. Uh-oh, then who is accountable? I declare that I am accountable with the collective I's (is) that we are.

Thanks for the opportunity to look!
